Bolivia Today is a project of the Diversity Reviews Organization. The organization is bi-national, made up of Bolivians and (North) Americans, who have lived and worked in both Bolivia and the United States. Staff members of the project include: David P. Dolson, Ed.D., our lead editor and administrator, has lived and worked in Bolivia since 1968 when he was a member of the Peace Corps. Subsequently, he has been an education programs advisor to the governments of Bolivia, Spain, and the United States. He currently oversees our headquarters office in Sacramento, California, USA. Pablo E. Salazar is a graduate of the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés, La Paz. He has a degree in Accounting and Finance. Pablo is the former president of the Bolivian Transportation Association. He currently serves as Bolivia Today's coordinator in La Paz. Our Mission and Approach Our
organization is a clearinghouse of travel information. We encourage
international visitors to Bolivia. At the same time, we recognize that
there are special challenges inherent in traveling to a third world
country. We want to facilitate your travel by making sure that planning
and preparation demands are minimal and simple. Once you arrive in Bolivia,
we want to insure that you remain safe, healthy, and able to fulfill
your business obligations, participate in your planned studies, and
fully enjoy your leisure or adventure vacation time. To accomplish these
goals, Bolivia Today is dedicated
to the singular pursuit of providing travel and tourism information on Bolivia that
is: 2. Concise and Parsimonious. Our publications, INSTANT BOLIVIA and BOLIVIA TRAVEL LETTER are focused on identifying the best travel services (e.g., hotels, restaurants, and shopping) and products at the most reasonable prices. We provide our readers with ample choices and a variety of selections without burdening them with minutia and trivia. In a sense, our guide and directory are digests that provide international visitors with a short cut to essential travel information about Bolivia. Since our organization focuses only on Bolivia, you will not find "cut and paste" sections in our guide "lifted" from generic broiler plate developed for tourist guides to other South America countries. 3. Independent. Our sole business is providing travel information about Bolivia to international visitors. We do not enter into any financial arrangements with any of the travel service providers reported in our publications in exchange for inclusion or a recommendation in our guide and directory. Bolivia Today staff members do not accept discounts or payments of any kind. As a result, without any other source of revenue, Bolivia Today asks that users of our publications consider a modest donation to our organization.
4. Current and Updated. Our field representatives in Bolivia are able to provide updated information on a daily basis. They remain in constant contact with all of the agencies and businesses that we recommend. Our directory is continuously updated and re-posted at least monthly. In addition, we publish an electronic newsletter entitled BOLIVIA TRAVEL LETTER that alerts readers to any significant changes in travel and tourism situation whenever conditions warrant. 5. Frugal and Affordable. We are committed to making sure that the agencies and businesses we recommend provide only quality products and services at a fair price. We only list those entities that meet established standards for service and conduct. Our underlying policy is consumer advocacy. We want to insure that visitors have a safe and pleasurable trip at reasonable prices. 6. Accessible. INSTANT BOLIVIA and BOLIVIA TRAVEL LETTER are available to readers online 24/7 from any computer with Internet access. Download a copy before you travel to Bolivia or review information online while in country. Internet cafés are available throughout Bolivia. Computer use and printing costs are minimal. 7. Pro-Social. In an effort to be of assistance to Bolivia's indigenous peoples, Bolivia Today has made a special effort to identify businesses that practice fair trade with Aymara, Quechua, Guarani, and other campesino non-profit organizations. Whenever possible we recommend the services and products of these organizations. Additionally, Bolivia Today is committed to donating at least 10 percent of its proceeds to micro-enterprise loan organizations such as Amigos de Bolivia, which assists Bolivia's indigenous poor to avert the insidious cycle of poverty. 8. Personalized. Users of INSTANT BOLIVIA and BOLIVIA TRAVEL LETTER may contact our staff via e-mail with a reasonable number of inquiries. We will make every effort to answer your questions and provide you with the best advice possible. Use the Contact Form below to send a message, make an inquiry, or to request a complimentary copy of INSTANT BOLIVIA. Bolivia
